According to the results of a recent Courion survey of IT security executives, 78 percent of respondents say they're anxious about the possibility of a data breach at their organization.
In addressing a significant security breach, 58.8 percent said "protecting the privacy of our customers" would be their primary goal, and 62.7 percent said they worry most about "negative publicity affecting the company brand" resulting from a breach.
"Managing user access" and "communicating or enforcing company policies" were among respondents' top security priorities in 2014.

While respondents said 95 percent of their IT security team considers preventing security breaches a serious issue, only 45 percent of their employee base feels the same way.
"Our recent survey confirmed what we've been hearing from many customers over the past few years, the role of the senior IT security executive is constantly changing," Courion president and CEO Christopher Zannetos said in astatement. "Not only are they thought of as the front line defense for protecting sensitive company and customer information, they also feel responsible for brand image and customer satisfaction."
